Our Staff

We are very lucky to have an extremely supportive Board of Management chaired by Rev Fr. David Gibson. Our school currently has 4 mainstream teachers, 2 Special Classes for Autism [An Cuan], 2 full-time Special Education Teachers (or SET), 1 part-time SET, 5.5 full-time Special Needs Assistants, 3 Bus Escorts, 1 full-time school secretary, 1 cleaner & 1 caretaker. Our staff is committed, professional and aims to provide a happy and inclusive school environment for every pupil.

Mr. Diarmuid Carroll

Principal

Mr. Carroll joined the staff in February 2012. He had taught in Co. Laois for almost 6 years and was delighted to be given the opportunity of becoming principal of Ballyagran N.S.

Mrs. Sinéad Curtin

Deputy Principal / 5th & 6th Class Teacher

Mrs Curtin was appointed as Deputy Principal in September 2017. She began teaching in Ballyagran in 2009. She has taught infants, 1st & 2nd, 3rd & 4th, and now teaches 5th & 6th class.

Mrs. Michelle Watkins

An Cuan Senior Class Teacher

Mrs. Watkins is the An Cuan Senior class teacher. Mrs. Watkins made her move to teach in her local school in September 2010 and taught 5th & 6th class for many years and has been instrumental to us achieving our Green School status.

Ms. Sabrina Hayes

1st & 2nd class teacher

Ms. Hayes joined the staff in September 2014 following the retirement of Mrs. Bridget O'Brien. She took up the role of Infant class teacher in September 2017 & now teaches 1st & 2nd class

Mr. Cormac Walsh

Infant CLASS teacher

Mr. Walsh became our Special Class teacher when it opened in September 2015. It has proven to be a tremendous success and adds hugely to our school.

Mrs. Jordana O'Donnell

An Cuan Junior Teacher

Mrs. O'Donnell began life in Ballyagran N.S. as a pupil and has now returned to teach here. Bringing great experience, she is a full time SET.

Mrs. Noreen McKenna

3rd & 4th class teacher

Ms. McKenna joined our staff from Kilmallock NS in September 2022. Ms McKenna will fill the SET role for our school.

Ms. Caroline Guiney

Special Education Teacher

Ms. Guiney joined our staff in September 2017 covering maternity leave and joined us on a full-time basis later that year.

Mrs. Nuala Barron

Special Needs Assistant

Nuala has seen it all. She attended school here, had her children attend here and for the last 15 (almost 16) years has worked here as Special Needs Assistant. She is a quiet, caring, and unassuming member of staff that is always willing to help out.

Mrs. Paula Enright

Special Needs Assistant

Paula joined our staff in September 2015 with the opening of Seomra Bhríd. Paula brings great experience from her time working in different schools but now has returned as SNA in her local school.

Ms. Gillian O'Regan

Special Needs Assistant

Gillian began working as SNA with us in September 2016. She has worked for many years as SNA in Limerick and Cork.

Mrs. Cora Moran

Secretary

Cora joined the Ballyagran N.S. team in 2000. She has been an integral part of the team since then and knows what there is to know about the workings of our school.

Ms. Sarah O'Donnell

Special Education Teacher

Sarah is based in Banogue National School but spends half of each day with us as an SET in Ballyagran. She has great experience teaching abroad and we welcome her to our staff.

Ms. Yvonne Foley

SNA

Yvonne has wealth of experience as an SNA and has been an excellent addition to our staff since she joined us in 2018

Mrs. Margaret Duffy

SNA

Margaret joined our team in 2020 and has been brilliant in her role as SNA since then.

Ms. Mairéad Shannon

SNA

Mairéad joined us in September 2020 and has added greatly to our team of SNAs.
